Notes: Very early in the year before almost any other rhododendron begins to flower, this luscious red will burst into flower. Compact shrub which grows with an erect habit. Glossy dark green foliage. Trumpet shaped flowers are bright blood red, bourne in large conical trusses. Flowers freely in early spring. Needs shelter from wind. Prefers semi-shade, and good soil that does not get too dry.
